Responding to three separate requests over the past few years Kev's Kids funded Laptop Computers to allow students with special needs become more independent and successful in school.
First for a student entering grade nine a Laptop with speech-to-text software. To allow a young man with reading and writing difficulties, but the ability to comprehend verbal instructions, "write" out assignments and enter regular curriculum.
The second for hard working young man with Ataxic Cerebral palsy which affects both his gross and fine motor control and movements. Though making much progress with gross motor control the struggles he still faces with fine motor control make keeping up with printing and writing extremely difficult. Able to produce work faster by typing than by printing. With word prediction software and a laptop will allow this student to increase his writing speed and benefit greatly in classes.
Most recently for a personable young man who has been diagnosed with Asperger's, Tourette's and Anxiety Disorder. Through his hard work he's been able enter regular curriculum at the high school level. With the laptop and recommended software he can become more independent and successful in high school and beyond!
