Heavy Things
Put to the test
Heavy Things is a Rock Band that hails from Tumbler Ridge.
The band has been playing across Northern BC, headlining Peacefest and sharing the evening headline set at Grizfest with Theory of a Deadman and the Headpins in 2008. In 2009, they closed the Friday night stage at the Kispiox Music Festival.
Walking Blind originated as a basement band in Wembley in 2006, they formed to be much more than that, adding the final peice, a bassist in 2008. Walking Blind have done shows in the Peace Country including Freestyle for Cancer. Walking Blind is marketing itself, playing gigs, and raising money to press a complete CD. Walking Blind...but running wild as a great local band.
Renée Golemba and her one of a kind 1944 Harmony acoustic have been entertaining audiences in Grande Prairie and area for three years. Though born and raised in Kelowna BC we truly consider her to be one of our very own. She has an amazing voice that can make you laugh and cry with songs that span the emotional compass. As she writes about her own life experiences her music is easy to relate to no matter your age. Her influences span from Ani DiFranco to Sarah Harmer, Bob Dylan to Janis Joplin, but no matter her influences, Renee Golemba is truly in a class all her own.
Check out these tunes from one Mr. Tim Sebastien.
Porter first picked up a guitar about 4 years ago while living in Florida killing off Canadian winter. He left Florida hitch hiking around the states and back home to Canada. He returned a singer/songwriter. What happened during his time adrift can only be peiced together through hints and stories in some of his songs. His interesting and creative music range's on several topics leaving some listeners to believe a song was "written about them". If you happen to walk into a bar and see a lone figure on stage listen close...It just might be Porter.
A local Grande Prairie basement band that showcased their talents at this years Peace Starts at Home. Lee Avery on guitar and vocals, Warren Yanishewski on drums and Hugo Domingo on bass and vocals.
