Jeff McCann was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He grew up in Calgary, Alberta, but chose to live in an area known as the "Peace Country" after deciding he preferred a small town atmosphere. The "spirit of the north" was instrumental in forming the philosophy that McCann embraces in his music and his lifestyle.

In the summer of 2006, Cody Perrotta, Carl Krause and Matt Laviniuk, started the band known as Spectrum. Since then they have played and competed in a number of shows at college bars and bigger establishments. Spectrum always did quite well considering their short time being together. Spectrum currently stands tied for 2nd place in a city wide battle of the bands which consists of about 15 grande prairie local groups.
